Speed Up Your Dental Implant Healing With PRF

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF)

Speed Up Your Dental Implant Healing With PRF

At FastNewSmile, we believe that Dental Implant Surgery should be a comfortable experience for our patients. Our prosthodontists are always on the front lines of technology that improves the surgical process, from IV sedation to local anesthetic.

Over the last month, we’ve begun implementing Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) injections that help Speed up Healing and create healthier bones post- surgery. This new addition to our repertoire has many industry experts talking and patients rightfully curious about the procedure.

Here’s a closer look at PRF and how FastNewSmile uses it to benefit our patients’ surgical success.

What is PRF?

PRF is a process that involves withdrawing blood from the patient. The blood is placed in a centrifuge that separates the Fibrin from the blood. Once the process is complete, it creates the PRF to help our patients Heal Faster After Dental Implant Surgery.

How Does PRF Aid Your Comfort After Dental Implant Placement?

According to a statement from FastNewSmile’s founder, Dr. Riad Almasri, PRF is full of Platelets with abundant Growth Factors. When a specialist uses PRF to put Growth Factors on any wound, it enhances the healing process.

How Does FastNewSmile Implement PRF in Our Procedures?

“The reason we started doing it is to serve patients who are slow healers mainly. Smokers and Diabetics who receive dental implants are the patients that are going to benefit from it the most,” Almasri said.

It’s not a common practice. There are very few dentists that offer it. You have to have an IV for it, and therefore, IV training. If you do not have IV training, then you can’t withdraw blood. Most dentists don’t have the training to withdraw blood. Since I have the training and can start an IV, I can withdraw the blood on-site.”

Who is Eligible for PRF?

Currently, at FastNewSmile, PRF is provided on a case-by-case basis. According to Dr. Almasri, an average healthy 35-year old usually won’t need PRF added to their procedure.

“But if you’re like a 70-year old and you’ve been smoking for 20 years and are diabetic, then you’re going to get PRF,” he said.

“The cost of it is not much, but the Benefit Outweighs the Cost. We like to guarantee our work, so we include PRF on patients that could lose their dental implants. When we see a red flag, that is when PRF is given to a patient.”

How Has PRF Impacted Our Patients?

Dr. Almasri said that when they’ve used PRF, most patients had reported Zero Pain and zero need for pain medication.

The Growth Factors will release for about ten days post-operative and create better quality bone and less discomfort for the patient post-operatively,” he said.
