The Easter bunny is hopping through very soon and so will many of our dental implant patients who consumed too much easter candy this holiday. While your FastNewSmile® dental implants are made of materials that are meant to last, some candies and foods just aren’t meant to be consumed in large quantities. We’re offering our patients some tips on a few traditional Easter candies and foods to avoid.

Watch Out for Sticky Foods

We all love traditional cinnamon rolls and hot cross buns at Easter, however sometimes the added stickiness from the sugar can damage your teeth. While your All-on-4 dental implants won’t be particularly disturbed by excessive sugar, it’s always best to be conscious of what you’re eating and how you’re eating it. Carefully munch on your Easter desserts by cutting them into smaller, bite-sized pieces. Your Dallas prosthodontist will thank you for it!

Have Caution With Chocolate Bunnies

This is another traditional Easter favorite that can get you into trouble if you’re a little too eager to enjoy it. Whether you still have your natural teeth or you have tooth implants, bite into your chocolate bunnies carefully. Hollow bunnies are better to eat with your teeth while bunnies with a hard center often contribute to chipped teeth. By all means, enjoy your Easter chocolate, but do so with caution.

Bite into Foods With Your Implants Carefully

Some foods have hidden surprises in them. This can be good or bad depending on your taste buds and how healthy your teeth are. Even if the food looks harmless slowly bite into it to make sure. Some Easter foods have nuts or otherwise hard pieces of candy inside them which could easily harm your implants.
